Malawi’s First Lady, Professor Gertrude Mutharika, has urged artists and public figures to leverage their platforms to intensify the fight against gender-based violence (GBV).
Speaking during a meeting with Nigerian music superstar and actress Tiwa Savage at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe, Professor Mutharika highlighted the critical role influential voices play in driving social change. She stressed that Malawi must mobilize all available resources and high-profile advocates to protect vulnerable members of society and end GBV.
The First Lady specifically appealed to Savage to use her global reach to amplify advocacy efforts and raise international awareness around the issue.
