His Excellency Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika, President of the Republic of Malawi, and the First Lady Prof. Gertrude Mutharika have donated relief items to 1,000 repatriated Malawians at Joyce Chitsulo Stadium in Mwanza. The donation was facilitated through the Beautify Malawi (BEAM) Trust.
Chief Secretary to the government Dr Justin Saidi expressed deep gratitude for the contribution, noting that the gesture reaffirms the President’s continued commitment to the welfare of Malawians.
BEAM Trust Chairperson Dingiswayo Jere emphasized that a healthy population is essential to the ongoing development and beautification of the nation.
The total cost of the relief packages is 100 million kwacha and consisted of assorted essential items, including duvets, orange squash (SOBO) sugar, bathing soap, soya pieces, and maize flour.
So far, about 40,000 Malawians have returned home safely.
